3rd Epsom (St Martin's) Scout Group

History

Oct. 1918 - Beginning of troop as 24th Sutton
Oct. 1919 - Troop registered as 24th Sutton (St Martins)
Sept. 1922 - Troop became 3rd Epsom (St Martins)
1928 - Since this registration, the troop have registered every year
1947 - The building of a new scout hut was started
1948 - The Scout Master's Mother, Lady Warburg handed over the title deeds of a "small forest" of 10 acres at Boidierhurst, Headly. It was to be a permanent camp site for Epsom, Ewell and Leatherhead.
1950 - Church Parade was moved to the 1st sunday of each month, and has been ever since
1951 - Geoff Collins joined the Cubs
1953 - The new hut was finally finished
1962 - Work began on building a new hut (The hut we still use today)
19?? - The hut was completed
1967 - The Advance Party Report came out, which stated:
There would be a new uniform,
The well known "DYB DYB DYB", "DOB DOB DOB", would be replaced by "Cubs, do your best", "We'll do our best",
Rover Scouts would be replaced with Venture Scouts.
1982 - The troop celebrated their 60th anniversary and the new scarf badges were designed
1984 - The troop's Beaver colony was started
2002 - Girls were allowed to join the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts
